Safety and Security
Safety and security encompasses a wide range of applications from cybersecurity to physical security to financial market security. The common analytical thread across these applications is anomaly detection. That is, a baseline of “normal” activity is identified and then new events (e.g., computer network log events) are evaluated and flagged as normal or abnormal (an anomaly). While security experts have a long track record of identifying anomalies, the volume of events, the frequency of those events, and the number of potential leading indicators of an anomaly are growing too big for any expert or team of experts to analyze manually. Most importantly, safety and security experts need transparency into why something is flagged to reduce their investigation time and build their case to take action.
This is where we come in.
At VIA, we aim to make our communities healthier and safer by identifying and alerting security professionals of increased risks and potential threats. We believe our approach to anomaly detection has multiple advantages:
- Transparency: Our proprietary AI / machine learning architecture, Focus™ delivers root cause explanations that provide transparency and accountability, critical to regulated industries and high stakes decisions
- Comprehensiveness: In some cases it’s not speed that matters but it’s the sheer volume of content that can be overwhelming to monitor. This is particularly true in monitoring video streams like those from UAVs. Advanced image analytics to parse video streams and detect anomalies is the only cost and time effective approach to comprehensively reviewing video data
- Advance Warnings: Typically, the application of analytics related to safety and security incidents happens after the fact. Focus™ has the ability to handle wide data (more kinds of data and more data points per incident) that can help identify precursors to rare events and potential risks to physical and digital assets
