Chief Executive Officer
Colin Gounden is the CEO of Via Science. In his tenure as CEO, Colin identified and brought on board the company’s first clients in energy and risk assessment applications. Colin also initiated the development of Via Science’s microservices architecture, Focus™, in order to better meet the real-time and high security operational demands of clients.
Prior to Via Science, Colin was the first investor and co-founder of a number of MIT spinouts, two of which became profitable in their first year of operations. Previously, he successfully sold Grail Research, where he was founder and CEO. Under Colin’s leadership, Grail Research grew from its first employee in 2006 to a leading business intelligence and analytics firm with more than 300 full-time employees in North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, India, and China in 2009. Colin went on to become chief marketing officer and then president across all business units of the acquiring company (18 locations and 2,000 people).
Prior to founding Grail Research, Colin was a partner and elected board director at a top five global strategy consulting and private equity investment firm with $2Bn in assets under management. He also previously worked with IBM in France, the UK, Mexico, and the US before co-founding a technology services firm that he grew and sold for $98M in 1999.
Colin has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fast Company, WIRED, and the Financial Times and is a frequent guest speaker at advanced technologies events. Colin graduated from Harvard University with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology.
